Lumina living care is a supported living service for adults, over 18 years of age who have learning disabilities, autism, and/or mental health conditions and those who present with behaviours that may challenge. Our services are bespoke, person-centred care provided in Medway, Kent and surrounding area. We recognise the difficulties and challenges our potential clients may face finding their own homes and managing their activities of daily living, therefore we provide services that enable them have their own choice and control over their lives by providing them with their own tenancy and care agreements.
We provide our care in an environment where people can feel at home, which allows our service users to have more choice about the type of care they receive and remain closer to friends, family and loved ones.
We provide Individualised care tailored to each person’s needs
Our focus is to promote and encourage meaningful independence, choice and control for the people we support.
Our teams are trained to passively diffuse situations and to alleviate the distress, frustration and fear that is often expressed as challenging behaviour.
All residents are assessed using valid and reliable measures of mental state, cognitive abilities and activities of daily living.
We offer a wide range of therapies, these include cognitive-behavioral therapy, physiotherapy and will support mainstream services to deliver necessary therapies such as occupational therapy (OT), speech and language therapy, art therapies and more
Focussing on reducing negative outcomes and a sustained personal social and emotional development
Lumina Living Care ‘Principles of Good Adult Care’ is based upon the key principles of privacy, dignity, self-fulfilment, independence, choice, safety and rights. This is integral to our working practices.
The care staff at Lumina Living Care will work towards positively developing individual qualities, which will give each Service User an opportunity for growth and development.
It is a belief of the organisation and staff working at Lumina Living Care that change is always possible. Each individual makes choices although not always with conscious awareness of themselves or of others. Any change in behaviour, thinking or feeling becomes the basis for wider changes to follow. All adults are therefore valued and are of value and are not written off or labelled because of their behaviour or mental ill health.
Our Services are carried out in a clean and healthy environment: taking users specifications and needs into consideration that promotes physical and mental wellbeing.
Our skills program helps users acquire necessary skills or develop existing ones. This offers them the oppurtunity to be employable and achieve financial security.
Our aim is to get our users back into the normal world as soon as possible, independent, safe to live with and get them to coexist easily with other people without fear.
